1st Marawi City Halal Tourism Convention 2015

It's More Fun in Marawi City!

The College of Hotel and Restaurant Management of Tourism Department from class TRM 53 (Special Events Management) of Batch SPECTRE 007 MMXV of Mindanao State University - Main Campus, invited the Al Khwarizmi Junior Diplomats (AKJD) to attend the very 1st Marawi City Halal Convention on December 10, 2015 at CHARM Pavilion of MSU Main.

The event started upon the arrival of the guests and participants followed by the formal opening of the program around 9 o'clock in the morning. The prayer was led by Mr. Mohammad Rasul Gunting of TRM 53 Class followed by the National Anthem played by the ABS-CBN Artists.

The Emcee, Mr. Abdul Nasser B. Arobinto, started to acknowledge the guests and participants. He later summoned the opening remarks by Prof. Cecile B. Mambuay, President of MSU Faculty Union. Later on, the introduction for the first speaker initiated by Sean Wilfred B. Cayunda, a CHARM Instructor.

The first speaker, Prof. Teresa T. Sanchez, Dean of CHARM talked about her topic regarding "Tourism - A Sunshine Industry". Then, the introduction for the second speaker was announced by the class adviser and Department Chairperson of CHARM, Ms. Ainnie M. Gangco.

The second speaker, Bai Omera Dianalan Lucman, Former Commissioner of National Commission on Muslim Filipino, slightly but meaningfully talked about "Understanding Halal Tourism".

The third speaker, Prof. Cecile B. Mambuay, was introduced by one of the CHARM Instructor, Clesan Calbe Naga and talked about the "Overview on ASEAN Integration". Later on, leisure time was given to the organizers, guests and participants to conduct their lunch and prayer time. And about 1:30 in the afternoon, the convention was continued.

Anne Fatimah Latip-Mangondato introduced the fourth speaker, Dr. Asnawi G. Ronsing, the Dean of King Faisal CenterIAAS (KFCIAAS) for the 1st Marawi City Halal Convention and talked further about the "Impacts and Future of Halal Tourism". 

Before the last speaker was summoned, an activity of promoting "It's More Fun in Marawi City!" was winned by the participants of our very own AKJD Officers, Ms. Annafarina Ibrahim and Sittie Norkhanie Alonto. They received a very huge box of sweets contained different flavors of doughnuts.

The last but not the least and resourceful speaker of 1st Marawi City Halal Convention was Director Sani D. Macabalang, former director Department of Agriculture - Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Region 12, talked about "Challenges and Issues on Halal Tourism Accreditation in Halal Industry".

The convention was an epic. It was a whole day of seminar with the very important and resourceful speakers from different sources.
